Karim Benzema is set to spend some time on the sidelines after picking up an injury against Celtic. The Frenchman has managed to avoid a major issue but is still expected to spend around a month out of action. That will see him miss Real Madrid’s games against Mallorca, RB Leipzig and Atletico Madrid, the French national team’s upcoming fixtures and then possibly a few more for Los Blancos after the international break, if he has not recovered by then.
The situation is far from ideal for Real Madrid to say the least. But then, it could have been worse. So, the best we can do is hope that Benzema recovers as quickly as possible and is back on the pitch soon.
Benzema has been an absolute superstar for Real Madrid ever since Cristiano Ronaldo left and was the talisman behind last season’s Champions League triumph. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 44 goals and provided 15 assists in 46 appearances for the club in the 2021/22 campaign.
And Benzema has sent a beautiful message to Real Madrid fans after picking up his injury on Twitter:
Je ne vais pas me plaindre, mon retour sera fort… merci pour tous vos messages 🙌🏼🤍 pic.twitter.com/MiydCwCrue

Benzema makes promise to Real Madrid fans after picking up injury
The biggest problem for Real Madrid right now is the fact that they do not have a real back up for Benzema. Mariano Diaz is the only other recognised striker in the squad. Others like Eden Hazard, Rodrygo and Marco Asensio could potentially be used in a false nine role.
Most fans were afraid that Real Madrid could end up in a sticky situation if Benzema got injured and their worst fears have come true.
Fortunately, there is an international break coming up or this injury could have caused even further damage to the club’s season and could have potentially even ended up derailing it for good.
