The Karim Benzema injury situation seems to have taken a sudden twist. The Real Madrid superstar was forced to be substituted off at around 30 minutes into the game against Celtic away in Scotland, as he headed straight for the dressing room. It goes without saying that the fans were concerned.

Initially, the suggestions in the media had been that Benzema would only be out for a week or so, and probably miss the upcoming games against Mallorca and RB Leipzig. But now, it looks like the situation might have changed a bit and he could be out for longer.

As reported by ESPN, Benzema is set to be sidelined for a month with the quad injury he sustained during Real Madrid’s game against Celtic.

That is a massive blow for Real Madrid to say the very least. Not only is Benzema the best player that Los Blancos have, and arguably in the world right now, but the club also do not have a proper replacement for him in the squad.

Worrying Real Madrid injury update emerges surrounding Benzema

A month is a long time in football and Real Madrid have some very important games coming up over that period of time, despite there being a break in between. As a result, it is a terrible situation for them.

The fans were worried from the very beginning that the club had not signed a striker in the summer in order to provide cover to Benzema and now, it seems like their worst fears might have come true.

Real Madrid might have come out from the game against Celtic with a 3-0 victory but it will not always be the case if Benzema continues to be out of action for a considerable length of time. It goes without saying that the situation is far from ideal and could have been easily avoided.
