1.  Robert Lewandowski

There are just a few names that spring to mind when you think of the most consistent and dangerous strikers in modern football, and Robert Lewandowski is one of them. After winning the sextuple with Bayern Munich, the Polish international finally gained the attention he deserved for many years, and the previous few seasons have seen considerable applause for him.

However, this is not his first appearance in the spotlight. His fame began with his time at Borussia Dortmund, when he was a fresh new prospect. It is no secret that Lewandowski is a world-class striker who has tormented defenders and goalkeepers for many years, and Real Madrid’s players were no exception to his wrath. Real’s one of the worst games of the century finished the way it did in 2013 because of his efforts.

The striker boasts all of the characteristics required of a competent and reliable goalscorer. His finishing abilities are exceptional, as is his aerial efficacy, which is on level with, if not better than, his finishing skills. Lewandowski hasn’t had much trouble blending in with several clubs or managing under various coaches. He has a unique method of integrating into a team without jeopardizing the roles of others.

It is no secret that Lewandowski always wanted to play for Real Madrid, but something always seemed to get in the way, and from the looks of it, Madrid were never serious about getting the player for reasonable reasons, such as having Cristiano Ronaldo and, more recently, Karim Benzema step up as the team’s core strikers, leaving no room for the Pole.

Nonetheless, having a player of Lewandowski’s calibre at Los Blancos would have only had positive effects and none on the negative. For Benzema, he would have played in a similar manner as he did with Cristiano, maybe even in a 4-4-2 with the two finest strikers in the world scoring left and right.

All of this had the scope of being realized, and Lewandowski would not have been on this list if he had not agreed to join Real Madrid’s arch rivals FC Barcelona this season. The player continues to scare goalkeepers in the Catalan fit, but at the expense of abandoning his dream of playing for Real Madrid.
