Once again, it looks like Real Madrid and Barcelona will be the ones competing for the La Liga title and probably even the Champions League. That was not the case last season, when the Blaugrana completely fell off the map following the departure of a certain Lionel Messi. Since then, they have strengthened again.

Barcelona have had a remarkable summer transfer window, and are looking like one of the best clubs in the world once again, under the management of Xavi.

On the other hand, Real Madrid only added the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger, while letting go of long-time stars like Casemiro, Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Isco. But Los Blancos’ squad is already so strong that they are still ahead of Barcelona in the La Liga race, even though it is still very early in the season and there is a lot of football left to be played.

One of their star signings, Robert Lewandowski, has started the season in magnificent fashion. And Xavi has named him as one of the best strikers in the world, although he did include the name of a Real Madrid superstar in that list as well. As reported by the Mirror, the Barcelona manager said:

"“The best? There’s him, Benzema and also Haaland.”"

There is very little doubt about the fact that Karim Benzema has been one of the best players in the world for quite some time now.

In fact, he is the hot favourite to win the Ballon d’Or this season and deservedly so, having inspired Real Madrid to the Champions League title in the previous campaign, almost on his own at times.

The start to the current campaign has not been smooth for Benzema though. He has struggled for rhythm and picked up an injury against Celtic in the Champions League, which is set to keep him out for a month or so.
