Casemiro shocked the footballing world when he left Real Madrid and joined Manchester United in the summer transfer window. Not many people would have expected to see the Brazilian defensive midfielder leave the Champions League holders and join a club that are playing Europa League football this season and it was seen as a major blow for Los Blancos.

While Casemiro was a key player for Real Madrid even last season, we have seen them do quite well even in his absence.

Real Madrid have won all of their games this season till now, despite not having the deepest squad. On the other hand, questions are already being raised about Casemiro’s role in the Manchester United team.

Luka Modric, who recently turned 37, is someone who had enjoyed a legendary partnership with Casemiro alongside Toni Kroos. And as reported by Real Madrid’s official website, the Croatian superstar said about the matter:

"“In midfield, we lost an important player in Casemiro, but we’ve got a lot of other good players to replace him and do a good job. Tchouameni has adapted really well. This is Camavinga’s second year and he had a great first year.Kroos has been here for a long time. Valverde is also doing really well in any position. Ceballos is helping the team a lot. We’re well equipped in this position.”"

It is safe to say that midfield is the strongest position in Real Madrid’s squad right now. And Aurelien Tchouameni, who was only signed this summer from AS Monaco, has seamlessly gotten into the team and is playing like he has been at the club for years now.

Also, they have the legendary duo of Modric and Kroos, complimented by youngsters like Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde. Even Dani Ceballos has been making important contributions off the bench.

Thus, there is enough quality in this Real Madrid midfield, to cope with the absence of Casemiro and that might be the reason why the club did not turn down the £70 million package offered by Manchester United for the Brazilian.

Interestingly, Casemiro is yet to find his role at Manchester United till now. He has only made one start since joining the club, against Real Sociedad in the Europa League, and even that ended in a 1-0 defeat for the Red Devils.
