Real Madrid have not been heavy spenders in recent transfer windows. But shrewd management has meant that that has not stopped them from remaining one of the best teams on the planet, as proven by their Champions League triumph. One of the key players in that title win was David Alaba.

Alaba is a great example of Real Madrid being very intelligent in the transfer market. He arrived as a free agent after his contract with Bayern Munich ran out and he has become a mainstay in the starting XI since then. Similarly, this summer they signed Antonio Rudiger for nothing, another one of the world’s best defenders.

If Real Madrid are to sign Jude Bellingham though, they will need splash the cash. It is expected to take a transfer fee around or north of £100 million to sign the English midfielder.

Bellingham is a prodigy in every sense of the word. He has been one of the best players in the Bundesliga for a while and already proven himself at the Champions League level. It is hard to believe that he is still just 19 years of age!

When Alaba was at Bayern Munich, he got the chance to see Bellingham develop. And he seems to have been very impressed with what he saw, hailing him as one of the greatest midfield talents in the world. As reported by GOAL, he told Welt:

"“As for Bellingham as a player, I can say that he is one of the greatest midfield talents in the world.“And that at a young age! At just 19, he leads the team, doesn’t hide and already decides games with his style of play.”"

Real Madrid already have an extraordinary midfield. Legends like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are complemented by youngsters like Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga. Dani Ceballos is making solid contributions as well.

If they are able to add someone like Bellingham to that mix, it will very likely be the best midfield in world football and by some distance as well.

It won’t be easy to sign him though, as clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea are also expected to be very interested.
