Real Madrid have already had their fair share of injury problems this season. At this point of time Karim Benzema is out of action, having picked up a problem in the game against Celtic. There is a chance that he could be back for the game against Atletico Madrid but it is also possible that he will only be back after the international break.

On the other hand, Eder Militao picked up an injury in the same game against Celtic as well and could be out for the next couple of games or so. Real Madrid have some very able back up in the form of Antonio Rudiger though.

And the fitness of another Real Madrid star was put into question, in the form of Thibaut Courtois. Fortunately though, Carlo Ancelotti has given a positive update on the situation, as it looks like the Belgian goalkeeper is fine and it was only a small knee problem.

As reported by Real Madrid’s official website, Ancelotti said about Courtois:

"“He had a small knee problem but he’s trained normally. He’s fine. He’s been in a bit of discomfort for a few days but he’ll play tomorrow”."

While Courtois might not always get the credit that he deserves, there is no question about the fact that he is one of Real Madrid’s most important players.

He proved that in the Champions League final against Liverpool last season, when he kept Jurgen Klopp’s side at bay, almost on his own at times and was the biggest reason behind Real Madrid’s win on the day.

Courtois might very well be the best goalkeeper on the planet right now and as a result, Real Madrid have to hope that he remains fit throughout the course of the season.

If Courtois did end up picking an injury though, Los Blancos have Andriy Lunin as his cover. The Ukrainian international is a great option to have for sure but not at the level of his Belgian counterpart at this point of time.
