Real Madrid had an eventful summer transfer window even though most of the focus was on outgoings instead of making signings. The club did bring in two incredible players in the form of Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger, while long-time stars like Casemiro, Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Isco departed Santiago Bernabeu.

The biggest shocker was the exit of Casemiro. The Brazilian was a key part of this Real Madrid team but perhaps the £70 million package offered by Manchester United was too good to turn down.

Liverpool wanted to sign another one of Real Madrid’s midfielders, and were ready splash big for him as well. But fortunately, the move did not happen and the Uruguayan is shining for Los Blancos right now, and is one of the most important parts of Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

As reported by Diario AS (via SI), Liverpool made a €100 million (£86 million) bid for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.

It goes without saying that Valverde is one of the most highly rated players at Real Madrid right now.

So much so that Ancelotti has been happy enough to play him on the right wing on a consistent basis, a position that is not natural for the Uruguayan midfielder. But impressively, he has done a great job there as well.

Most fans believe that Valverde is the future of this Real Madrid side and arguably will become captain one day as well. Thus, it is great news that Liverpool were not successful in their attempts to sign him in the summer.

One can only hope that Los Blancos will decide to hold on to Valverde even if Liverpool and other Premier League clubs decided to try to sign him once again in the not too distant future, which is very possible.
