Vinicius Jr has made a tremendous start to the campaign in Real Madrid colours. His raw potential had never been in question, ever since he had arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu. Early on in his career though, he struggled a bit to put it all together into his game. He was a fantastic dribbler of the ball but pretty ineffective in the final third of the pitch. That has changed since the 2021/22 campaign.

Vinicius was incredible last season, scoring and assisting almost for fun, and even scored the Champions League-winning goal against Liverpool. And this time around, he seems to have gotten even more lethal in front of goal and is on a five-match scoring streak right now, with Real Madrid winning all of them.

Thus, at the moment, his performances on the pitch should have been celebrated. But instead, the Brazilian has been in the eye of some controversy for his antics during games.

Carlo Ancelotti though does not seem to be interested in the outside talk and is only focusing on Vinicius’ performances, which have been incredible. As reported by BBC, the Real Madrid manager said:

"“I see a great player demonstrating his talent – that’s it.“I’m not deaf and I’m not stupid, I can hear what is being said but this isn’t a topic for us or for Vinicius. He has extraordinary quality and it’s normal that opponents try to stop him in his tracks and the rules of the game are there to protect all players, not just Vinicius.”"

It is safe to say that Real Madrid’s focus right now has to be on the upcoming games instead of the media talk surrounding Vinicius.

They won their first Champions League game of the campaign by a 3-0 scoreline against Celtic but might be heading into a tougher test when they take on RB Leipzig, who seem to have bounced back following the appointment of Marco Rose as manager and ended up winning 3-0 vs Borussia Dortmund at the weekend. Thus, this match could be tighter than most fans expect it to be.

In the league, Real Madrid are top of the table but they do have Barcelona breathing down their necks as well.
