Real Madrid are in a pretty good spot right now. They have won all of their eight games in this campaign till now. And a number of their players are stepping up to the plate and coming up with big moments, even when they do not seem to be playing at their best as a team. The match against RB Leipzig is a great example.
Real Madrid were nowhere near their best against RB Leipzig. In fact, on the night, the German club seemed to be the better team and a combination of wasteful finishing and Thibaut Courtois’ brilliance prevented them from scoring.
Real Madrid once again did what they do best though, scored a couple of late goals and found a way to win the game. And one of the goalscorers on the night was Marco Asensio.
Asensio had been left on the bench against Mallorca and had not seemed happy about it on that day. He was given his chance against RB Leipzig and took it. There are still huge question marks over his long-term future at Santiago Bernabeu though, with his contract running out in less than twelve months.
Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in Real Madrid player
As reported by CalcioMercato, AC Milan continue to follow Asensio. The eyes of Liverpool and Arsenal are on the Spaniard as well though.
It will be very interesting to see what the future holds for Asensio. His cameo against RB Leipzig does merit more chances in the future. But at the same time, it is clear that he is an impact substitute at best in this side.
Also, his current contract will run out next summer and he will become a free agent. Thus, January is Real Madrid’s last chance to get a transfer fee out of Asensio’s departure, as an extension looks almost impossible at this point.
