Real Madrid might be perfect this season till now, but that will be put to the test when they travel to Metropolitano to take on Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone’s side currently sit at seventh in the La Liga table and are coming off of a loss against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League in mid-week.
But if there is one thing that we have learned about Atletico Madrid under the management of Simeone, it is that they can make things very difficult for others, even when they are not at the top of their game.
Thus, Real Madrid will know that they will have to take their A-game to Metropolitano to come out of there with a positive result. Fortunately, it seems that they have been handed an injury boost heading into the game.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Eder Militao has exercised at the same pace as his teammates after recovering from the muscle overload suffered against Celtic. And as tweeted out by Carlos Rodriguez, the Brazilian has recovered and is ready.
Real Madrid star is fit to play vs Atletico Madrid in massive boost for Carlo Ancelotti’s side
Of course, it remains to be seen if Militao will feature or not against Atletico Madrid. Even if he does not, Ancelotti has enough options in defence to field a very strong team.
He could go for the combination of Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez at centre-back while David Alaba starts as a left-back, like was the case against RB Leipzig in mid-week.
Or the Italian manager could play the combination of Rudiger and Alaba in the heart of defence, while Ferland Mendy starts as the left-back.
Defence is not a worry for Real Madrid at the moment, even though they do suffer from momentary lapses of concentration from time to time. The bigger worry for them going into the game against Atletico Madrid, is the expected absence of a certain Karim Benzema.
