Real Madrid have made a remarkable start to their campaign despite having to deal with injury problems to key players and not having the deepest of squads. They have won all eight of their games till now and will be looking to make it nine out of nine, when they face Atletico Madrid in the derby this weekend.

One player who has been a particular standout is Vinicius Jr. He had a breakout season last time around. There had never been any doubt about the Brazilian’s raw potential and he finally put it all together and became a force to be reckoned with in front of goal. And he has taken his game to the next level this time around.

Unfortunately, most of the focus in the media has not been on his performances but instead on some of his antics on the pitch, especially him dancing after scoring goals.

Another player who has had to face such scrutiny throughout his career is Neymar and he has decided to send a message to his Brazilian teammate. As reported by Tribuna, the former Barcelona star wrote on his Instagram stories along with a picture of Vinicius:

"“Dribble, dance & be you! Happy just the way you are. Go for it my boy, next goal we dance.”"

On one hand, it is not hard to understand why the opposition players and coaches might have a problem with some of Vinicius’ antics and interpret them as being disrespectful.

But dancing after scoring is nothing new or uncommon in football. Before Vinicius, other players like Neymar and Ronaldinho, and several others, have shown their dance moves after putting the ball into the back of the net.

It should be viewed as self expression and given the same respect as any other special celebration. Whether it be Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘Siu’, Edinson Cavani’s ‘Archer’, Kylian Mbappe’s ‘Hands across his chest’, or any other that is a bit over the top.
