Real Madrid have a number of players in their squad who do not seem to have a clear role in the team or a long term future at Santiago Bernabeu. One such player is Marco Asensio. The Spaniard was expected to break out as a superstar at the club but has never managed to meet the expectations.
And now, Asensio only has a year left on his contract with Real Madrid and it is unlikely that he will end up extending his deal. Thus, either Los Blancos will have to let him leave for a bargain fee in January or he will leave as a free agent next summer.
Clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus and others were believed to be interested in Asensio in the summer but ultimately, nobody ended up making a move for him and he remained at Real Madrid.
As reported by Bernabeu Digital, Fabrizio Romano assures that there are already clubs that are exploring the possibility of acquiring the services of the Real Madrid player in 2023 as a free agent.

At this point of time, Asensio is nowhere close to being a starter for Real Madrid, but he has shown that he should have a role as an impact substitute.
He came on against RB Leipzig in the Champions League and managed to score a very good goal late on to make it 2-0 and seal all three points and the win for Los Blancos.
In the past, he has shown the ability to do that time after time. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Asensio scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists in 42 appearances in the 2021/22 season.
A good portion of those appearances came off the bench and even if Asensio ends up leaving soon, he should have a role in the team until then, because he brings a lot to the table.
