Real Madrid have made an incredible start to their season and sit at the top of the La Liga table and their Champions League group, having won all of their games till now. That is even more impressive when you consider the fact that there are serious questions about the club’s squad depth and they have had to deal with injuries to key players like Karim Benzema as well.

There are some players at the club though who might not have a long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu. And one of them seems to be Marco Asensio.

Asensio is not a regular starter for Real Madrid right now by any stretch of the imagination. And although he did impress in his cameo off the bench against RB Leipzig, the best he can hope for at the moment is a role of an impact substitute, especially with Rodrygo starting to make his presence felt finally. Also, the Spaniard just has less than a year left on his current deal and could he end up making a shock move after it?

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are attentive of the situation of Asensio. They take him into account due to his age, level and tactical adaptability. And at 26 years old they see him as a mature player but still with a long career ahead of him.

For a player who spent so long at Real Madrid and enjoyed so much success, it would be a shock if Asensio ended up at Barcelona.

But then, stranger things have happened in football and Luis Figo did make the move from Barcelona to Real Madrid.

The deciding factor could be the fact that Asensio’s contract runs out next summer and then he will be free to join the club he wants.
