Real Madrid allowed a lot of players to leave in the summer transfer window. The biggest shocker of course was the exit of Casemiro, who ended up joining Manchester United. The Brazilian star had been one of the biggest parts of the team for a long time and played a key part in four Champions League triumphs.
Things have not gone his way since joining Manchester United though, as he is yet to find a first-team role there. On the other hand, Aurelien Tchouameni has done a wonderful job at Real Madrid when it comes to replacing Casemiro on the pitch.
There were several others who departed, like Marcelo, Gareth Bale and Isco. Thus, Los Blancos have lost a lot of experience without a shadow of a doubt.
There is another player that Real Madrid could have allowed to go this summer though and rumours have suggested that Liverpool were willing to shell out a transfer fee in the region of €100 million to sign him. But the club held on to Federico Valverde and it has proven to be the perfect decision already.
Real Madrid made the perfect decision by holding on to Valverde
Valverde might not have been the most prolific player last season when it comes to numbers but he did prove his value to the side by playing in several positions and providing the assist to Vinicius Junior’s Champions League-winning goal vs Liverpool.
And now, there is no question that he is playing arguably the best football of his career and seems to be scoring almost every game.
Valverde has scored four times this season already, against RB Leipzig, Celta Vigo, Mallorca and in the derby against Atletico Madrid.
He is growing in importance every passing week and at the moment, Valverde has to be one of the first names on Carlo Ancelotti’s team sheet.
