Real Madrid and Barcelona have one of the most intense rivalries in all of football, and it arguably reached its peak in the late 2000s and the 2010s, when the rivalry between two of the greatest players of all-time in Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, managed to capture the imagination of the world.
Since both have departed the La Liga giants, there has arguably been a bit of a drop in the global popularity of El Clasico but amongst the hardcore fans, the rivalry remains just as intense as ever.
And with Barcelona enjoying a resurgence this season, following a blockbuster summer transfer window which saw them bring in names like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Marcos Alonso and Hector Bellerin, there is expected to be a tight race for the title with Real Madrid.
It is not often that a player ends up playing for both Real Madrid and Barcelona during their career, but it looks like La Masia graduate, Gerard Deulofeu, is very open to that possibility.
Former Barcelona player is ready to join Real Madrid if they made an offer
As reported by Madrid Universal, when asked by Marca, if he would be willing to join Real Madrid, Deulofeu said:
"“If they come, how are you going to say no?”"
Deulofeu spent almost a decade in the youth ranks of Barcelona and was expected to develop into a first-team star.
That did not happen and he would end up moving to Everton. Then, Barcelona ended up signing him again, but once again, it did not work out for the Spaniard at the Camp Nou.
Once one of the brightest talents in world football, Deulofeu has gone to have a bit of nomadic career at the senior level but finally seems to have found his best form at Udinese and is making his mark in Italian football. It remains to be seen if that raises the interest of Real Madrid.
