Real Madrid might have made a great start to their season, winning all of their games till now but they have not had the best of luck when it comes to injuries. Karim Benzema has been out of action already for quite a while after getting injured against Celtic while it was only recently that Eder Militao returned to the line up, in the game against Atletico Madrid.
Real Madrid have been left sweating once again though, as it looks like David Alaba might have picked up an injury while on international duty for Austria.
As reported by Football Espana, in the game between Austria and France, Real Madrid’s Alaba came off. He pulled up after 70 minutes and was substituted by Ralf Rangnick. The fact that he jogged off the pitch was at least some small consolation that it might not be a bad injury.
On the other hand, as reported by Marca, Alaba trotted off to the substitution area, so the physical problem that kept him out of the game doesn’t seem to be important.
Real Madrid star suffers injury during international game
It is safe to say that Real Madrid will be hoping that Alaba has not suffered any serious problem and he is fit to play as soon as possible.
It was only last summer that he joined Real Madrid on a free transfer after his contract with Bayern Munich ran out. He has established himself as one of the club’s most important players since then, capable of playing at both centre-back and at left-back.
Alaba played a big part in the club’s Champions League-triumph last season and he has been a constant in defence this time around as well. We can only hope that it was a precautionary change and that he has not sustained any serious injury.
