Jordi Alba makes huge claim about Real Madrid star

It is not very often that you see Barcelona players praise Real Madrid’s stars but then it helps when the two are international teammates. And it is clear that Jordi Alba, who has been a big part of the Catalan giants’ team for the past decade, has huge respect for one of Los Blancos’ defenders.

That player is none other than Dani Carvajal. The Spanish right-back has played a huge role in Real Madrid’s triumphs over the years.

Many feel that Carvajal often does not get the credit that he deserves simply because of the fact that he is not the flashiest player on the pitch and as a result, a lot of great and important stuff that he does on the pitch, ends up getting overlooked by a large portion of the fan base.

It is safe to say that he is rated very highly by Alba though. As reported by SPORT, the Barcelona veteran said about his Real Madrid counterpart:

"“He has been at a high level for many years, he is very competitive. He is the best in his position in recent years. Too bad to have him in the rival. We are very friends.”"

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Carvajal has made 338 appearances for Real Madrid till now.

Real Madrid had made the mistake of letting him join Bayer Leverkusen early on in his career but fortunately had a buyback clause and activated it, after he proved his quality in his debut campaign in the Bundesliga. Since then, he has been an ever-present in Los Blancos’ team.

It is safe to say that Alba is also someone who perhaps always does not get his due. He has been an important part of this Barcelona side for a decade now and had struck up an incredible partnership with Lionel Messi, during the Argentine genius’ last several years at the club, before he would depart for Paris Saint-Germain.

At 33 years of age, Alba’s time as a starter for Barcelona might be coming to an end though, as Alejandro Balde grows in prominence in Xavi’s side.
