Real Madrid have enjoyed a great time when it comes to Brazilian players in recent times. Even in their current side, they have three key members in Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Eder Militao. The first two were signed early on in their careers based simply on their incredible raw potential. On the other hand, the defender was signed after he had already shown his quality while playing for FC Porto.

The club did let Casemiro leave this summer in a shock move to Manchester United. The Brazilian defensive midfielder had been a key part of the team for a long time and played his part in the last four Champions League triumphs.

Now though, it seems that Real Madrid could be looking to replace Casemiro with another Brazilian defensive midfielder and have been heavily linked with Flamengo’s Joao Gomes recently. The player has been in the headlines quite a bit and the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are also believed to be interested.

But as reported by Mundo Deportivo, in Gomes’ contract, there is a termination clause for non-Brazilian teams of €60 million, according to journalist Venê Casagrande. And Flamengo are not going to lower that figure and does not intend to negotiate.

Real Madrid will have to pay huge transfer fee to sign Brazilian midfielder

It is safe to say that the current transfer market is very different than the one in which Real Madrid had signed Casemiro.

There are very few bargain deals to be found these days, and with clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United and several others believed to be interested in Gomes, Flamengo will know that they hold all the cards.

Will Los Blancos end up making a move for Gomes in the future considering his sky high release clause? Only time shall tell.
