Rodrygo is certainly a player whose star is on the rise at Real Madrid this season. He was signed based solely on his incredible potential and has been given the time to develop his game, without putting him under the pressure to deliver performances every week. And now, it looks like Los Blancos are about to reap the rewards of their patience and could have another Brazilian superstar on their hands.

Last season proved to be the breakout campaign of Vinicius Jr, who went from a frustrating finisher to one of the team’s most potent sources of goals. And this time around, it looks like Rodrygo is on the verge of a similar season and nailing down his spot in the first-team for Real Madrid.

Of course, it is still early doors this season and a lot of things could change, but what Rodrygo has shown till now is a superb sign of things to come in the future.

Interestingly, Rodrygo has named his Brazil international teammate and former Barcelona superstar, Neymar as his idol. He captioned his Instagram photo with the player:

"Always special… playing with my idol!"

Real Madrid’s Rodrygo reveals that Neymar is his idol

For the generation of Brazilian footballers that Rodrygo belongs to, it is no surprise that Neymar is his idol.

Neymar has been the superstar of the Brazil national team for almost a decade now and his performances at the international level have been superb to say the least, even though his club career has fizzled out a bit in recent years.

Interestingly, Real Madrid could have ended up signing Neymar when he was a teenager as well and were heavily linked with him, but ultimately, he ended up joining Barcelona and performed there as well before moving to PSG in a world record move.

Their failure to sign Neymar is believed to have been one of the biggest reasons why Los Blancos have concentrated so much in signing the best Brazilian talents as teenagers and trying to develop them at the club, instead of waiting for them to become the finished articles.
