It has been a weird couple of weeks when it comes to Real Madrid and Barcelona transfer rumours. Marco Asensio has been linked with a potential move to Camp Nou, when his deal with Los Blancos comes to an end at the end of the ongoing campaign. On the other hand, La Masia graduate, Gerard Deulofeu, has not ruled out potentially moving to Santiago Bernabeu, if the opportunity presented itself in the future.

One Barcelona player seems to be certain though that he won’t be joining Real Madrid and that is Nico Gonzalez.

Barcelona have been blessed with some class talent in the middle of the park at the moment. Pedri and Gavi have had a lot of spotlight on them, but another player who made a decent impact last season was Nico. But this time around, he has been sent out on loan to Valencia.

As reported by Marca, Nico made it clear on El Larguero, that he would not be joining Real Madrid:

"“Real Madrid? No, I’ve been a Barça fan since I was little. I’m very happy in Valencia, I’ve been very happy at Barça and I don’t think I’ll end up at Madrid.”"

At one point of time last season, Nico was getting some consistent minutes as a starter at Barcelona and it looked like he would join the ranks of Pedri and Gavi as the core of the midfield for the future.

But the playing time would drop quite a bit later on in the season and he would end up suffering an injury as well.

Ultimately, the decision was made to send him out on loan to Valencia this summer and it is a very good place for him to develop for sure.

It must be pointed out that Nico is still just 20 years of age and could very well turn out to be a starter for the club one day. And when it comes to a move to Real Madrid, that does not appear to be on the table.
