If there is one weakness that this current Real Madrid side has, it is their lack of options up front. In Karim Benzema, they have the hot favourite to win the Ballon d’Or and arguably the best striker in the world right now. But beyond that, their options are very, very limited to say the least. Mariano Diaz is the only other recognised striker in the squad and he is nowhere near the starting XI.

Some fans’ biggest fear came true when Benzema ended up getting injured in the game against Celtic, and has not kicked a ball since then. As a result, Carlo Ancelotti had to play Rodrygo and Eden Hazard in the false nine role in order to fill the Frenchman’s void.

Thankfully, Real Madrid were not really hurt by Benzema’s absence this time around and won all their games without him. But that does not mean that that will always be the case, and Los Blancos do need to bring in another striker.

They might have the perfect chance in that regard though, as it looks like Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino could on the move soon.

Firmino has been one of the key players to Liverpool’s revival in recent years under the management of Jurgen Klopp. But his current deal runs out next summer and it is believed that he will move on, in search of a new challenge. In fact, he has been linked with Barcelona in recent times.

As reported by SPORT, Barcelona would be willing to let Memphis Depay go to Liverpool next January in exchange for Firmino.

This is a great chance for Real Madrid to swoop in as well and look if there is a deal to be made. Marco Asensio is a player that Liverpool have been linked with in recent times and the idea of a swap deal in January could be very plausible as a result.
