Toni Kroos is a player who often does not get the credit that he deserves for the success of Real Madrid over the years. While Luka Modric is considered by most fans as the best midfielder of his generation, it is not often that we hear the name of Kroos come up in the same conversation, even though he completely deserves it.

Since joining Real Madrid from Bayern Munich, Kroos has been a mainstay in a team that has gone on to win four Champions League titles and several other trophies as well. On top of that, Kroos has a World Cup to his name as well.

There is a big difference between Kroos and Modric though. While the Croatian midfielder wants to continue playing for as long as he can, his German partner in the middle of the park has made no secret that he wants to retire early and while he is still at the top.

And as reported by AS, Real Madrid are not assured that the German will continue. So it looks like there is a possibility that Kroos could look to retire at the end of the season.

Real Madrid: Could Kroos decide to retire at the end of the season?

Kroos is still a huge part of the Real Madrid side but at the same time, it is also pretty clear that they have the future sorted with players like Fede Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.

Could Kroos decide to take a step back and hang up his boots in order to let his younger teammates take over his mantle at the club?

It might also explain why Real Madrid have been linked with so many midfielders like Jude Bellingham and Joao Gomes recently. Let’s see what the future holds for Kroos at Santiago Bernabeu. His current deal runs out next summer.
