The summer of 2023 could be one of change for Real Madrid. The club are being linked with several interesting names like Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund, Joao Gomes of Flamengo, Joao Cancelo of Manchester City and Christopher Nkunku of RB Leipzig. On the other hand, there could be a few players on their way out of the club as well.
One man who seems almost certain to leave is Marco Asensio. The Spaniard was expected to develop into a superstar at Real Madrid but finds himself as an impact substitute at best at the moment.
His current deal with the club is set to run out next summer though and he is expected to leave as a free agent then, although a January exit cannot be completely ruled out either.
Several clubs have been linked with a potential move for Asensio and now, it looks like Tottenham Hotspur have also joined the race to sign him.
Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Real Madrid player
As reported by CalcioMercato, Juventus, AC Milan, Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are all on the trail of Asensio.
It is actually fascinating to see how much interest there still is in the signature of Asensio, even though he has failed to fulfil his potential at Real Madrid.
There are a few reasons behind that. Firstly, he is just 26 years of age and has not even entered his prime as a footballer. Thus, there is still plenty of time to turn his career around.
Secondly, when given an opportunity, Asensio has actually done a pretty good job. Last season is a pretty good example of that. Thus, as a free agent, he has the potential to be a very good signing for a number of clubs due to combination of potential and top level experience.
