Real Madrid have not been the most active club in the transfer market in recent years and have pretty much moved away from their philosophy of signing Galacticos. One big move that they made this summer though is signing Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco for a transfer fee around €80 million.

The Frenchman has been absolutely out of this world early on in his Real Madrid career. It is hard to believe but he has not let the club feel the absence of Casemiro at all, who left in order to join Manchester United in a transfer deal that could rise up to £70 million with add-ons.

It is safe to say that Real Madrid fans are delighted with Tchouameni and it looks like the club pulled off a transfer masterstroke by signing him in the summer. But there was interest from other clubs as well.

Liverpool’s interest has been well documented but it looks like Tchouameni turned down the chance to move to the French capital and sign for Paris Saint-Germain as well. As reported by GOAL, in an interview with Telefoot, he said:

"“I didn’t hesitate with PSG. It’s also a big European club, but I had no doubts. I only wanted Real Madrid.”"

It is safe to say that the Frenchman’s decision to turn down the chance to join PSG and move to Real Madrid instead has worked out perfectly for Los Blancos.

In Tchouameni it looks like they have someone who can be the backbone of this midfield for the next decade to come. It is incredible that he has adjusted to life in Madrid so seamlessly despite this being his first season away from France.

It might be a bold claim to make but it does feel like Tchouameni has the attributes to be even better than Casemiro one day, which is incredible considering the Brazilian midfielder won five Champions League titles with Real Madrid.
