Real Madrid missed out on a huge opportunity to sign Erling Haaland this summer from Borussia Dortmund. It is believed that Manchester City signed the Norwegian superstar for a transfer fee around €60 million, thanks to a release clause. That is proving to be the bargain of the season as he has made an incredible start to life in the Premier League.

It is hard to think of anybody who has come in and dominated the Premier League like Haaland has. There most probably is not an example in history.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Haaland has scored 14 goals and provided 3 assists in 8 Premier League appearances till now. Calling that extra-ordinary would be an understatement. It is something even beyond that and if he can keep performing like this, he will shatter a lot of records.

Perhaps naturally, Real Madrid are already being linked with a move for Haaland in the future, with rumours suggesting that he has a €200 million release clause that will become active in the summer of 2024. But Manchester City seem ready to hand them a transfer blow in that regard already.

As reported by the Daily Star, Manchester City are likely to rip up Haaland’s contract and give him a new one – if he continues to plunder goals at such a prolific rate.

Haaland is already Manchester City’s highest earner alongside Kevin De Bruyne but could be in line for a pay rise after just a few months, after his ‘special’ start to life in English football.

Of course, that would be a blow to the hopes of Real Madrid to sign him in the summer of 2024 because Manchester City are surely going to have a look at that too. Let’s see where things head from here.
