Real Madrid have struggled with injury problems this season, which should not come as a major surprise considering the fact that they do not have a lot of depth all across the pitch. There has been some positive news in this regard recently as Luka Modric is closing in on a return, although one would not expect him to start the game against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League this midweek.

As one midfielder returns, another one is ruled out though. This time around, it is Dani Ceballos who looks to spend some time on the sidelines.

Ceballos has picked up a hamstring problem and will not be available for the game against Shakhtar Donetsk. The seriousness of the issue is unclear though and it remains to be seen when he will be back.

As reported by AS, Carlo Ancelotti said about Ceballos during his press conference ahead of the midweek clash against Shakhtar Donetsk:

"“There have been problems with Ceballos’ hamstring and he won’t be available tomorrow.”"

It is safe to say that Ceballos is not a regular starter for Real Madrid. But he is definitely someone who has played his way into Anelotti’s plans and is a key member of the squad.

He has definitely been pretty good when he has been given a chance to show what he can do on the pitch and is a decent option to have in the squad to say the least.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Ceballos has made 9 appearances this season across all competitions, played 177 minutes of football and has an assist to his name.

Thus, one would be hoping that Ceballos is not out of action for any considerable length of time and is back as soon as possible. Hopefully, more details will emerge about his injury in the coming days.
