4. Nacho Fernandez

Mr. Reliable. Nacho Fernandez is in many ways the perfect player. He wants to be at the club and fight for Real Madrid everyday but he never complains, never finds himself in much drama around the club, has a great relationship with players and staff, and always gives 110% when he is out on the pitch. It’s strange that he’s 32-years-old as many still see him as a youngster at the club but he has gained a lot of experience and still has what it takes to be relied upon by the manager.

He’s quiet and works hard on the side but he transforms into a different beast the second he’s on the pitch. It’s also a massive advantage that he can play anywhere in the back-four while it seems as though Carlo Ancelotti prefers him as a center-back. Either way though, he has been used as a center-back, a right-back and a left-back over the past few seasons and having someone with this versatility is a great asset.

It would be very surprising to me if Real Madrid decide against keeping Nacho at the club. He will definitely sign a new contract and his loyalty is something that should be awarded.

It remains to be seen how long the contract will be valid for but as per club policy, it will most probably be for a one-year extension and then the two parties can see what’s the best move forward a year down the line as we have seen many times in the past where things simply do not go according to plan and a lot changes in the span of 12 months.
