Real Madrid will need to add some talent going forward soon with the future of the likes of Eden Hazard, Mariano Diaz and Marco Asensio pretty much up in the air and it would not be a surprise to see more than one of them depart Santiago Bernabeu next summer. And one player that they seem to be in the race to sign is Cody Gakpo of PSV Eindhoven.

Gakpo was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer before they completed a deal for Antony.

Gakpo seems to have taken his game to the next level since then though and his numbers this season are extraordinary. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in 16 appearances in the 2022/23 campaign till now. That is Haalandesque in terms of effectiveness.

And as reported by The Athletic, sources with knowledge of the situation have mentioned Real Madrid as a potential destination for Gakpo. He was considered by Manchester United in the summer while Arsenal also seem to be interested.

Real Madrid are interested in incredible Dutch talent

Gakpo has everything that you want in a player. He is a left-winger with size, ability to find his teammates and of course, a brilliant eye for goal as well.

Of course, many can end up questioning whether he would be able to make the jump from the Dutch league to the Premier League or La Liga, but in terms of attributes, there is no question that Gakpo has everything that anyone could ask for.

At 23 years of age, one would also expect him to get better and as a result, he is a player that Real Madrid should definitely keep in their sights moving forward.

Of course, with the performances and numbers that the Dutchman is putting up this season, the race for his signature is going to be tough.
