Real Madrid have faced their fair share of injury problems this season with key players like Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, Luka Modric, Eder Militao and several others spending time out on the sidelines at one point or another. Fortunately, it feels like most of the issues will be sorted ahead of their first game against Barcelona in this campaign, set to be played at Santiago Bernabeu.

There is very little doubt that Real Madrid and Barcelona will be contesting over the La Liga title. They seem very well matched this time around, and currently sit on the same number of points as well, although Xavi’s side are ahead on goal difference.

One man who is currently out of action is Courtois, who is believed to be struggling with a back issue. But if things go according to plan, the Belgian goalkeeper should be available for the first El Clasico of the season.

As reported by ESPN, Carlo Ancelotti said about the situation of Courtois:

"“He’s much better today.“We spoke to him before we left Madrid. He’s feeling better. I think he’ll start training on Thursday to be ready for the game on Sunday.”"

It goes without saying that if Courtois is able to achieve full fitness ahead of the game against Barcelona then it would be a major boost for Real Madrid.

The Belgian is quite possibly the best goalkeeper on the planet right now. He proved that with a match-winning performance vs Liverpool in the Champions League final last season and has continued to play at a very high level in this campaign as well.

Thus, fingers crossed, Real Madrid will have Courtois between the posts against Barcelona. Otherwise, Andriy Lunin is doing a good job as well and can be trusted in case his Belgian teammate does end up missing out on the day due to fitness issues.
