Real Madrid will be confident heading into the game against Barcelona this weekend. On one hand, they have not tasted defeat this season. They came close this midweek, when Shakhtar Donetsk were on the verge of beating Carlo Ancelotti’s side but a heroic effort from Antonio Rudiger kept the steak alive for Los Blancos.

On the other hand, Barcelona are coming off of a major blow to their confidence in midweek as they could only manage a 3-3 draw vs Inter Milan. The result leaves their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.

If Barcelona lose another game or Inter Milan win one, then Xavi’s side will drop down to the Europa League for the second season in a row. That is not what their fans would have expected when they signed Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Raphinha, Andreas Christensen and several others in the summer.

Barcelona’s bad result does not seem to have hurt their confidence heading into the El Clasico though. As reported by AS, Raphinha told Movistar Plus:

"“If anyone should be, not afraid but careful, it is them. We are confident and we will do our best to win.”"

It remains to be seen how Barcelona perform on the day. They have been a hit or miss in the campaign till now.

And they certainly have not risen to the plate on the big occasion, losing at the hands of Inter Milan and Bayern Munich already in the ongoing campaign.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid are able to get the better of Xavi’s side as well, who certainly have a lot of issues in defence right now, with several key players out injured.

When it comes to Raphinha himself, he has not set La Liga on fire since his big money move from Leeds United in the summer, and only has one goal to his name in a Barcelona shirt.
