Real Madrid have a brilliant squad already, as is evidenced by the fact that they are the defending European and Spanish champions. At the same time though, things never stay still at Santiago Bernabeu and they are always looking to get even better. And one position that they might have their eye on is left-back.

When it comes to the defensive side of things, Ferland Mendy is arguably the best left-back on the planet. The same cannot be said about him going forward though, which is a major weakness for the Frenchman.

Thus, while Mendy is a major asset when it comes to the big games against top opposition, he might not be as effective when teams are sitting deep against Real Madrid. David Alaba is someone who can play at left-back in those games but the club might be looking towards a more long-term solution to the issue.

According to Marca, as reported by Jose Felix Diaz on MARCA’s Twitch channel, Alphonso Davies is one of the players Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on.

Davies burst onto the scene at Bayern Munich and was being touted as one of the best left-backs on the planet while he was still a teenager, as he helped the German club to UEFA Champions League glory a few years back.

Since then, things have been tough for Davies, who has had to struggle with injuries and health issues, and as a result, might not be in the spotlight as much as he was a couple of years back.

But the future should still be very bright for Davies, who is still just 21 years of age and is playing regular first-team football for Bayern Munich once again. His current deal with the Bundesliga giants runs out in the summer of 2025. So, they will not be under any pressure to let him go immediately.
