Widely recognised as the most talented striker to ever step foot on a football field, Ronaldo certainly has the distinction of playing for both of Spain’s biggest teams – Real Madrid and Barcelona. And unsurprisingly, the Brazilian phenomenon enjoyed success with both of them.

Ronaldo arguably had the best individual season of his career in Barcelona colours, when he took Spanish football completely by storm. But his stay at the Camp Nou was very short as the Catalan giants certainly dropped the ball by failing to keep him at the club. He could have changed the course of their history way before Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo will always be remembered more fondly for his time at Real Madrid, a club where he was at for much longer than Barcelona.

Thus, it goes without saying that Ronaldo will always have a unique view of the El Clasico, as he has seen it through the eyes of both sets of fans. And heading into this one, it looks like he views Karim Benzema as the man who can decide the game.

Ronaldo names Real Madrid star as most important player in the next El Clasico

As reported by SPORT, Ronaldo said during the preview of his biographical documentary ‘El Fenomeno’:

"“I dare to say that the most important player in the match is going to be Benzema and he will celebrate it the day after with the Ballon d’Or.“I think Madrid, playing at home, has an advantage, but both teams are playing very, very good football.”"

Benzema has not been at the top of his game this season till now but he should be pumped up for this game, not because it is El Clasico but also because the Frenchman is expected to be awarded the Ballon d’Or soon as well. He would surely want to mark that in style.

On the other hand, Barcelona have no lack of decisive players in their team either, with the biggest of them being Robert Lewandowski, who arrived at Camp Nou in the summer and has taken to Spanish football like a duck to water.
