Real Madrid: The B team that could be used after the World Cup
RW – Lucas Vazquez
With both Rodrygo and Asensio potentially getting called up for their respective national teams, Vazquez will have a chance to regain his natural position. The player is likely the best backup in the team right now, and having him back up front on the wing will be exciting to watch.
Additionally, Vazquez will be much more free to move forward and engage with the players freely in the final third as opposed to the full back tasks that restricted him in the defensive responsibilities. His precise crossing skills and 1v1 brilliance will definitely aid Real Madrid in the post-World Cup time.
ST – Mariano Diaz
This is, after all, the only conceivable choice. Mariano will have to play striker for the squad, albeit not much is likely to come off his boots. Hopes from the player have reached rock bottom, and any degree of progress, no matter how minor, would be welcomed.
Mariano’s case is difficult, because he is no longer of the calibre he was when Real Madrid bought him. Although Mariano has the opportunity to explore the skies, he is unlikely to even take flight. The attacking midfielders on the flanks and other players in the attacking third will have to work harder now that Mariano will been handed the goal-scoring baton.
LW – Iker Bravo
While some may argue that the teenager has had little experience on the big stage, he has the capacity to significantly affect the game. Bravo has been pleased under Raul, and with a vacancy to fill, Ancelotti will have to go through Castilla once more.
As a 17-year-old, the former La Masia kid has a very complete offensive profile and can almost play in any position up front. He is at home on the wings and possesses a towering frame that allows him to body past other players.
However, Bravo’s expectations should not be unrealistically high. He is still very young and developing on a daily basis.
