Real Madrid broke their transfer record to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea in the summer of 2019. Back then, it was seen as a great move on the part of the club. At Stamford Bridge, the Belgian had nailed down himself as one of the best players in the world and a Premier League legend, and was viewed as the man who could replace Cristiano Ronaldo as the face of Los Blancos, as the Portuguese superstar had departed for Juventus the year earlier.

Things have not gone according to plan for Hazard though, who has had to spend the majority of his time either out on the sidelines nursing injuries or on the bench.

The Belgian has fallen down the pecking order tremendously and appears to be the last choice winger at the club right now. And the recent El Clasico was further proof of that, as he remained an unused substitute.

As reported by the Mirror, Hazard is yet to appear in an El Clasico match-up, despite eight such games taking place during his three years at Real Madrid. For four of those games, he was on the injury list.

El Clasico shows the extent of Hazard’s nightmare at Real Madrid

The thing about Hazard is that everyone wants to see him succeed at Real Madrid. He is a very likeable guy and on top of his game, we know what kind of a player he is.

But unfortunately, it looks like that will never happen and we are not going to see the Hazard of old again.

Even when he has been given chances, he has failed to take them and one has to question whether he is even capable of performing at a high level anymore, after so many injuries and so much inactivity at Real Madrid all these years.
