Real Madrid have arguably the best midfield in world football right now and yet they continue to be linked with potential signings in the middle of the park. The reason for that is pretty clear though. There are strong rumours about Toni Kroos retiring at the end of this season. On the other hand, while Luka Modric is still going strong, he is 37 years of age and will need to be replaced sooner or later. Dani Ceballos could be on his way out soon as well.

Thus, the Real Madrid midfield could look very different in a few years’ time. And while in Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga, they have three constants, there are other squad spots that might be up for grabs.

Names like Jude Bellingham and Bruno Guimaraes have been linked with potential moves to Real Madrid in recent times. Now, another name has been added to that list and it is a surprising one: Adrien Rabiot.

As reported by CalcioMercatoWeb, Carlo Ancelotti has long been an admirer of Rabiot. The midfielder’s contract with Juventus runs out at the end of the season and a renewal seems unlikely at the moment. Thus, the Real Madrid manager could wait for next summer to launch a move for the Frenchman, perhaps trying to find an agreement as early as January.

Rabiot has been criticised a lot for his performances since joining Juventus from Paris Saint-Germain. Yet, the Frenchman has raised his game this season and has been one of the Italian club’s best players.

Rabiot was heavily linked with an exit in the recent summer transfer window itself and Manchester United were believed to be interested, but ultimately the move failed to transpired.

Real Madrid have signed a lot of free agents in recent years. Could they use the same trick with Rabiot as well?
