For a long time, it was believed to be a matter of time before Kylian Mbappe ended up joining Real Madrid. It was no secret that the French World Cup winner had grown up as a fan of the club and Cristiano Ronaldo. And with his contract running out at Paris Saint-Germain, most fans expected him to make the long-awaited move to Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

In fact, Mbappe was even given a hero’s welcome at Santiago Bernabeu by Real Madrid fans, when PSG came visiting in the Champions League last season.

In a surprise twist though, Mbappe went on to sign a bumper new deal with PSG instead, ending hopes of a move to Real Madrid, despite the long-running saga and leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of the Los Blancos fans.

Since then, rumours have suggested that Mbappe is looking to leave PSG once again, as early as January if possible. But could Real Madrid be involved in the transfer race this time as well?

Real Madrid president breaks silence on Mbappe amid transfer rumours

Florentino Perez does not seem to be looking towards a potential move for Mbappe at the moment and is instead focused on the club’s own players like Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo. As reported by 90min, the Real Madrid president said:

"“It’s not that I’m bored [of the saga], it’s that I don’t even read the news about Mbappe anymore.“We have a spectacular future ahead of us. Vinicius and Rodrygo, I see them as Ballon d’Or winners.”"

It goes without saying that Mbappe is one of the best players in the world right now and has been performing at a high level for years already despite the fact that he is still just 23 years of age.

At the same time though, one has to wonder whether Real Madrid even need him anymore. Both Vini and Rodrygo are performing at a very high level already themselves and could actually be future Ballon d’Or winners. So, would it make sense to bring in the Frenchman for an astronomical fee and salary?
