5 Reasons why Real Madrid dominated Barcelona in El Clasico
1. A one-of-a-kind team performance
Perhaps every Real Madrid player had an outstanding individual display against Barcelona, resulting in a team performance that was too brilliant not to guarantee a favourable result. We can’t think of a single player who had a bad game or who held the team back.
Whether it was the goalkeeper, the defensive four, the midfield, or the final three, every player worked in unison to create a magnificent footballing masterpiece. The ball moved evenly and efficiently from the back of the pitch, where a transition began, to the front three via the middle to create goalscoring opportunities.
The passes were coming, as were the skills and individual fireworks. Andriy Lunin communicated well with the defenders ahead of him, which was critical in keeping Barcelona at bay. The defence was also quite calm and solid, having worked on various flaws such as tracking spaces and recognizing the appropriate level of risk to take.
Once more, the midfield was just magnificent. Tchouameni covered for them and ensured the squad’s safety on the ball as the two veterans linked the team superbly. The mix of defensive cooperation and creative independence worked well, and the players’ form was the icing on the cake.
Vinicius did not have his finest game on the left flank, but he was not horrible either. In reality, he was pretty decent and caused multiple problems for the Barcelona defence. Surprisingly, his link-up play with Ferland Mendy on the wing was quite beneficial, as the French defender also demonstrated a strong presence in the offensive end. Benzema was the spark as he steadily regains momentum following his injury, and Valverde was at his best.
Overall, Real Madrid’s team play vs Barcelona’s was enough to ensure a good scoreline to separate the two teams at the top.
