Real Madrid are looking unstoppable at this point of time. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are yet to lose this season and have only drawn twice as well, winning every other game till now. That is quite the achievement considering we are already past the mid-point of October. There were many who believed that Los Blancos would take a step back this season due to a number of their star players aging, but the opposite has been the case.

The likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema are showing that age is just a number and performing at an extremely high level. On the other hand, some of the club’s youngsters have matured and developed, and seem to be on the path to becoming world-class themselves.

Federico Valverde is one such player. He has been stunning this season and become an undroppable in Ancelotti’s team, with the manager using him as a winger as well as a midfielder.

Ancelotti had joked that he would retire if Valverde did not scored ten goals this season. The Uruguayan already is on six, as he scored an absolute stunner against Elche, after he had put the ball into the back of the net against Barcelona in the El Clasico last weekend. And his form seems to have impressed even the Real Madrid manager.

Real Madrid star’s form has surprised even Ancelotti

As reported by Real Madrid’s official website, Ancelotti said regarding Valverde:

"“I took a risk with Valverde by telling him that he was going to score 10 goals and hopefully he’ll do that so that I don’t lose face. He’s playing very well and surprises me in every game as he does everything well: the attacking aspect, the defensive aspect, shooting, running… When you think of the modern midfielder, you don’t have to look any further than Valverde at this moment in time.”"

It is safe to say that on current form, Valverde is one of the best midfielders on the planet. He has always been highly rated for his overall play but now he has added goals to his game as well.

It remains to be seen if he can continue to deliver this on a consistent basis or if this turns out to be a rare purple patch for him in front of goal. It is hard to believe that he scored just once last season.
