Toni Kroos’ performances for Real Madrid this season have been superb and at no point of time has it looked like he is on the decline as a footballer, at 32 years of age. On the contrary, it looks like the German has improved since last season and is once again playing his best football. In no game was it more evident than in the 3-1 win over Barcelona in the El Clasico, as he bossed the midfield on the day.

While Kroos remains one of the most important players at Real Madrid, there are some question marks about his long-term future at the club, with rumours doing the round that he is planning to retire at the end of this season.

Of course, that would come as a blow to Real Madrid, who still rely on the German star heavily in the middle of the park.

Carlo Ancelotti had a pretty positive update regarding the future of Kroos though. As reported by Marca, the Real Madrid manager said about the situation:

"“I have spoken with him, he is very calm. He is going to think about it after the World Cup, in January or February. I think he will continue, he is better than last year when he had problems at the beginning. I have spoken with him and he is very calm.”"

Every Real Madrid fan would be hoping that Kroos ends up renewing with the club. Not only does he have a lot left to give on the pitch but also can help the youngsters around him, like Aurelien Tchouameni, Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Kroos has made 378 appearances for Real Madrid till now. During that period of time, he has also won four Champions League titles, three La Ligas, four Club World Cups, four UEFA Super Cups and three Spanish Super Cups. The only thing missing from his cabinet is a Copa del Rey.

It would be a shame if Kroos did end up hanging up his boots, with so much still left in the tank. Yet, he is someone who has always wanted to go out on top and if that is what he decides to do, every Real Madrid fan would support him.
