Real Madrid fans celebrated around the world as Karim Benzema won the Ballon d’Or. The Frenchman’s long run at the club has been filled with ups and downs, but this was the pinnacle for him on an individual level, after guiding Los Blancos to the Champions League and the La Liga title last season.

It was a well deserved award and not something a lot of people would have expected him to win at 34 years of age.

Benzema has had his problems this season though. While he has continued to score goals, he has already suffered and recovered from one injury, and now, it looks like there are concerns about whether he will be able to participate in the club’s upcoming game against Sevilla or not.

As reported by Relevo, the day before playing against Sevilla, the Real Madrid striker had physical problems again. But he was included in the matchday squad regardless. Benzema wants to play and on Saturday morning tests will be carried out to confirm whether he can or not.

Real Madrid superstar suffers injury scare before Sevilla game

Benzema is without doubt one of Real Madrid’s most important players right now, even though the club were able to put up positive results in his absence.

There were some question marks over his form early on in the season but he has looked back to his best in the recent games, and thus, if he does end up missing the game vs Sevilla, it would be considered as a big miss for Real Madrid.

The positive for Real Madrid in all of this is the fact that Benzema still has a chance to feature vs Sevilla, which suggests that the injury is nothing serious. And even if he ends up missing a game or two, Los Blancos have enough quality in their squad to deal with it. Problems will only arise if the Frenchman is ruled out for any significant length of time.
