Real Madrid suffer massive Karim Benzema injury blow

Real Madrid have had their fair share of struggles with injuries this season, even though they have not allowed the performances on the pitch to drop because of that. One player whose situation is becoming particularly worrisome is Karim Benzema. The Frenchman had already spent some time out on the sidelines earlier on in the campaign, following a knock picked up vs Celtic. And now, it looks like he is out once again.

At 34 years of age, it is pretty clear that Benzema can no longer play two games every week on a consistent basis. The problem for Real Madrid is that they do not have a real back up for him. And that pressure might be taking its toll on the Ballon d’Or winner.

Real Madrid confirmed on their official website that Benzema has been diagnosed with muscular fatigue in the quadricep muscle of his left leg.

As reported by Marca, Benzema will miss out for Real Madrid against Sevilla and RB Leipzig. The club are hoping to have him back for the game against Girona on Sunday, October 30.

Thus, thankfully for Real Madrid, it looks like it is not an issue that will keep Benzema out for any considerable length of time.

But even then, he is going to miss out on a couple of very important matches. And not just that, but the fact that this is not his first injury of the campaign is worrying as well.

If Real Madrid are to bring home the big trophies this season then they will need their star man to be on the pitch. Of course, injuries could derail his season. Even if they are not major ones, they can very easily prevent him from building up any momentum and form. Thus, one can only hope that the Frenchman will be able to remain fit after returning from his latest issue.
