Toni Kroos is way too good to retire. Let’s just start off by saying that. Yet, rumours having been floating around that the German midfielder could decide to hang up his boots at the end of the season. It goes without saying that that would be a blow for Carlo Ancelotti’s team, as he is still a key starter for Real Madrid.

Kroos is still performing at a top level and instead of declining, his displays have actually improved from the past season. Yet, it has always been clear that he wants to quit playing while still capable of producing his best. Also the fact that he has already retired from international football just goes onto show that he is not afraid of giving up the game early.

When it comes to Real Madrid’s stance, it seems pretty clear that they want Kroos to continue playing and want to hand him a contract extension.

As reported by Tribuna, according to Fabrizio Romano, Kroos already knows that Real Madrid have a contract offer ready for him. The club, and Florentino Perez in particular, hope that the midfielder will accept the offer but he is still thinking about his future.

Thus, it is pretty clear that the ball is in Kroos’ court regarding what he needs to do. He is still just 32 years of age and very capable of continuing on, based on his performances this season.

On the other hand though, there is nothing left for him to achieve in the game and he has been to the pinnacle of the sport several times. That will definitely make it easier for him to let go, whenever he wants to.

It remains to be seen what Kroos decides. Real Madrid fans surely want the German magician to stay on though.
