Real Madrid have had their fair share of struggles with injuries this season. Even at this moment, both Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde, two of Los Blancos’ most important players are out of action. And now, a third name has been added to that list and it is of Luka Modric. The Croatian midfield maestro had been named in the squad to face RB Leipzig in midweek in the Champions League, but has not travelled with the squad.

That means that Benzema, Valverde and Modric are all out of the game against RB Leipzig. The good news is that Real Madrid have already qualified for the last 16 and have the squad depth to deal with the absences for a game or two.

As reported by Marca, Modric is a last-minute withdrawal and the player is suffering some discomfort in the adductor, which is why it has been preferred not to risk him.

The extent of the problem is not clearly known yet and one would be hoping to have Modric back as soon as possible, preferably vs Girona.

Modric might be 37 years of age but he is still going strong, playing at a world-class level and is a starter for Real Madrid.

That is a testament to his greatness and after being underrated for years, the Croatian is finally getting the credit that he deserves for being one of the best midfielders of his generation, if not the very best.

It is safe to say that Real Madrid will have a tough task on their hands replacing Modric in the middle of the park but they do have a wealth of options in midfield. It is likely that Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, will make up the numbers against RB Leipzig.
