Real Madrid will need to refresh their forward line in the future. Karim Benzema is set to turn 35 soon and cannot carry the goalscoring burden on his own. Mariano Diaz’s signing has not worked out at all and he is expected to leave next summer when his contract runs out. On the other hand, the futures of Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard are up in the air as well, although some rumours have suggested that the club have offered the Spaniard a new three-year deal.

So, while most of the recent rumours surround Jude Bellingham, do not be surprised if Real Madrid try to strengthen in the forward areas as well.

One player who showed what he is capable of, at the expense of Real Madrid, is Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman found the back of the net against Carlo Ancelotti’s side, as they suffered a 3-2 defeat away in Germany, ending their unbeaten run for the season.

Someone like Nkunku could be an incredible signing for Real Madrid. But, it is believed that Chelsea are his most likely destination and talks are at an advanced stage.

Real Madrid should try to beat Chelsea to Nkunku signing

While Chelsea are believed to be leading the race to sign Nkunku, nothing is official, and if there is any chance of bringing him to Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid should try to make it happen.

Nkunku has been splendid form in recent times. He was out of this world last season, scoring more than 30 goals for the German side, and has picked up right where he had left off and continued to perform this time around as well, even though RB Leipzig have not been in good form.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Nkunku has scored 12 goals and provided an assist in 18 appearances this season across all competitions.
