Real Madrid handed fresh Federico Valverde injury worry

Federico Valverde is arguably Real Madrid’s best player at the moment. The Uruguayan has taken his performances to the next level this season. Not only has his overall play been excellent, but he has added goals to his game as well, something that had been missing in the past. Carlo Ancelotti had joked that he would retire if the midfielder did not score ten goals, but at the rate he is going, twenty might not be an unrealistic target.

Unfortunately for Valverde, he ended up suffering a knock in the recent game against Sevilla and missed the trip to RB Leipzig as a result. The initial expectation had been that the Uruguayan would be back in time to face Girona this weekend. Now though, that is in doubt.

As reported by AS, Valverde trained on and off the pitch individually and is a doubt for Sunday’s game. He is still limping from the strong tackle by Papu Gomez.

Of course, if Valverde does indeed miss the game against Girona, it would be a blow for Real Madrid but Los Blancos should have enough depth to deal with it.

The good thing is that Valverde is back in training and hopefully, that means that he will not be out for much longer, even if he does end up missing this weekend’s game.

The big fear would be that this injury ends up derailing the incredible momentum that Valverde had built up over the past few months.

Hopefully, everything will be fine and when Valverde returns to the pitch, he will continue in the same vein of form. This season, he has looked like a different player, almost scoring for fun at times. Every time he shoots from outside the box, the ball finds its way into the back of the net.
