Real Madrid have been linked with a number of big name players in recent times, but moves of such magnitude are only expected to be made in the summer. There are quite a few positions in the squad which could do with reinforcements though. Will those areas be addressed in the January transfer window?

Well, it does not look like that will happen. Real Madrid have made a brilliant start to the season despite people raising questions about the depth of their squad and it looks like they will be sticking with this set of players for the entire campaign.

It took until late October for Los Blancos to suffer their first defeat of the season, as RB Leipzig defeated them 3-2 away in Germany in midweek, with Christopher Nkunku, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, Josko Gvardiol and Timo Werner scoring for the Bundesliga side.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Carlo Ancelotti said about potential January signings:

"“January signings? We’re not interested in winter signings.“The squad will remain the same for the rest of the season.”"

That means that Real Madrid are unlikely to sign some of the top performers coming out of the World Cup, something that the club have historically done throughout their history.

Of course, in recent years, they have been relatively quiet in the transfer market, moving away from their famous ‘Galactico’ style of signings.

This summer, they did bring in Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger, but on the other hand, Casemiro, Marcelo, Gareth Bale and Isco left the club. That has not stopped this team from continuing to achieve non stop success though.

Rumours have suggested though that Real Madrid have big plans for the upcoming summer transfer window, with a number of big names being linked with a switch to Santiago Bernabeu. Let’s see if the links lead anywhere or not.
