Real Madrid star completes surprise return to squad

Real Madrid have had their fair share of injuries this season, which will without doubt be a worry for Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian manager will know that he does not have the deepest of squads, and as a result, if a few key players end up picking up long-term injuries, it could very well end up derailing Los Blancos’ campaign.

Thankfully, until now, there have been no serious injuries for Real Madrid, but a number of niggling issues.

Federico Valverde did pick up a knock in the recent game against Sevilla. It resulted in him missing the midweek Champions League match against RB Leipzig, which Real Madrid ended up losing. And there were doubts whether he would be back for this weekend’s clash against Girona or not, with rumours suggesting that he had trained on his own and was still limping.

But Real Madrid have sprung a surprise. Valverde has been named in the squad that will face Girona and pictures have emerged of him taking part in training as well.

Rumours had suggested that Valverde was set to miss the game vs Girona, so it is safe to say that this is a boost for Real Madrid.

Valverde has proven himself to be one of Ancelotti’s undroppables this season with his displays. Not only is he playing some wonderful football at the moment but has added goals to his game as well.

There are some people who even believe that he is the best midfielder on the planet right now. And while up for debate, on current form, he has to be in the conversation for sure.

He is not the only one making his return to the squad though. Luka Modric is back as well after a short absence.
