Why Real Madrid dropped Aurelien Tchouameni vs Girona
Following their 3-2 defeat against RB Leipzig in midweek, Real Madrid suffered another blow, this time in La Liga. Carlo Ancelotti’s side could only manage a 1-1 draw against relegation fighting Girona. Vinicius Jr had put them ahead but then, the opposition would equalise from the spot, and Los Blancos could not find a second. Toni Kroos was sent off late on as well, in what turned to be a terrible day for the Spanish champions.
Of course, fans will point towards the absence of Karim Benzema, and Real Madrid certainly do not look like the same force, without the Ballon d’Or winner on the pitch.
They had another important player missing on the day though and it was Aurelien Tchouameni, who was left out of the matchday squad.
As reported by Marca, Tchouameni has a muscular overload. The Frenchman did not feel comfortable and it was decided not to take any risks.
Why Tchouameni did not feature for Real Madrid in the game vs Girona revealed
Tchouameni has arrived from AS Monaco in the summer and become one of Real Madrid’s most important players without a shadow of a doubt. It is safe to say that they ended up missing him in the game vs Girona.
Real Madrid have had to deal with their fair share of injury problems this season, and a lot of players seem to be dealing with muscular issues.
One can only hope that Tchouameni will be back to full fitness as soon as possible. This does not sound like a serious issue and should not keep him out for long. In fact, the decision to leave him out is believed to have been a very late one, so much so that he was even part of the team graphic for the line up against Girona, as a substitute.
