The future of Toni Kroos has been a topic of hot discussion amongst Real Madrid fans in recent times, as rumours have been doing the rounds that the German midfield maestro could hang up his boots at the end of the season. He has already retired from national duty and is not going to the World Cup.

Of course, Kroos is still playing at the top of his game and it would be a shame if he decides to walk away from football so early. The way he is going, he can still play for years to come and is still a regular starter for Real Madrid.

His current deal runs out at the end of this season and it is believed that Real Madrid are keen to offer him an extension. Now, it remains to be seen if Kroos himself is keen on playing on or not.

Kroos has finally broken his silence about the entire situation although he still does not have an answer on if he will continue playing or not. What is clear though is that he will not play for another club and retire at Real Madrid, whenever that happens. As reported by Marca, he said:

"“I’m very relaxed about my [contract] renewal.“I don’t even know myself what will happen. We’ll decide before March, so that you don’t all get too nervous.“I’m going to retire here, what I don’t know is when. There’s nothing new to tell.”"

It is safe to say that the fans want Kroos to continue playing on. He is still playing at a very high level. In fact, there is a case to be made that he could very well be playing the best football of his career right now.

Kroos is not someone who will hang around though and his early retirement from the German national team shows that.

Whatever Kroos decides to do, whether it is continue playing or retire, he will have the full support of the Real Madrid fans. He has earned that and much more.
